Core concepts

A project holds your work together. Its development machine and application runtime have separate jobs.

Project

The durable object for what you’re building. A project can start with a Git repository or with no source. Creating it does not create a workspace.

Source

Connect a Git repository from any compatible host. A source belongs to the project; choosing a different repository host does not change the project model.

Workspace

A persistent, isolated development machine for a human or coding agent. It runs in its own virtual machine. A Ready workspace has passed checks for SSH, Git, persistent storage and baseline development tools, with source prepared when present.

A workspace has its own filesystem and tools. Your laptop’s working directories are not its default working environment. Agent credentials and dependencies still need deliberate setup inside it.

Deployment

A separate, lightweight application runtime built from a pinned Git revision. The current backend uses OCI containers. A deployment is not another development VM, and its lifecycle does not depend on the workspace staying on.

Service

A project-scoped dependency such as PostgreSQL or Redis. Services have their own lifecycle, data and private connection configuration. Application deployments can consume explicitly bound services.
